It gave purveyors of the new American music scene of the 1930s a reliable, gibson j200 standard well-built instrument, capable of projecting the sound of the guitar well beyond that of any other acoustic on the market—a fact that still holds true today. It is simply the world’s most famous acoustic guitar, and certainly one of most popular, as evidenced by the list of players that have made it their primary acoustic instrument, among them Ray Whitley, Emmylou Harris, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Gram Parsons and Pete Townshend. Includes case.
Gibson’s design innovation continued into the 1960s when Ted McCarty hired leg-endary automotive designer Ray Deitrich to design a Gibson. The result was the Firebird series, and the companion Thunderbird bass series of 1963. The Firebirds“reversed” conventional designs, with their elongated treble-side horn and treble-side tuners. They also introduced neck-through-body construction and smaller “mini-hum-bucking” pickups to the Gibson line.

A rosette is the beautiful, hand-crafted circle around the sound-hole, and can gibson j200 used be one of the most ornamental elements of any acoustic guitar. It is also one of the most subtle and complicated woodworking decorations on any acoustic guitar. The rosette on the J200 Standard is a double-ring rosette, with the main ring consisting of seven-ply binding, and the second ring three-ply binding, adding a stylish, understated elegance to the J200 Standard.
The strangest change is the addition of a large, suspended wooden brace under the top, between the bridge and the soundhole. In the middle of the brace is a large metal screw, held against the top. Apparently this brace was added to keep the front of the bridge from sinking. two versions of this brace were used. But both totally killed the J-200’s tone, so many owners removed this brace.

Grover’s original Rotomatic tuners are an engineering marvel, with style and performance exactly suited for the J200 Standard. With a gear ratio of 14:1, the Rotomatics deliver precision tuning in a durable housing that provides maximum protection for the gear and string post. All moving parts are cut for exact meshing, eliminating the possibility of slippage. A countersunk tension screw lets players regulate the tuning tension to any degree. A special lubricant inside the gear box provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.
The top of the J-200 Standard is made from beautiful AAA-grade Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are constructed from AAA-grade Eastern curly maple, giving the J-200 Standard a bright gibson j200 for sale and crisp tone, and all the clarity and presence expected from a Gibson Super Jumbo. Selecting the right wood, and the formula to dry it out, are two of the most central procedures to Gibson’s guitar-building process. Beginning with its first catalog in 1903, Gibson has assured its customers that every guitar would be built using woods with “the most durable, elastic, and sonorous qualities,” and today’s guitars from Gibson Acoustic are no different.

Gibson’s Super Jumbo guitars were originally built to cut through the loudest acoustic ensembles, allowing them to compete with the mandolins and banjos that were prevalent in “pre-amplified” times. It’s still a thrill to hear the well-balanced sound of a Super Jumbo ringing out loud and clear. The maple sides and spruce top pump out a throaty tone that’s equally great for high-octane strumming and delicate fingerpicking. Everyone from arena rockers to country artists to blues greats choose these guitars for their incredible sound, projection, build quality, and, let’s face it, stunning looks.
The resilience of this durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and gibson j200 true vintage stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The J200’s graduated crown inlays are made of genuine mother of pearl, and are inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesn’t require the use of fillers. The fingerboard also sports a rolled edge–instead of the usual right angle where the fingerboard surface meets the neck, Gibson Acoustic’s rolled edge is slightly beveled for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel, enhancing the playability of the J200 Standard.

Today, the legacy of Gibson’s “King of the Flat-tops” lives on in the new SJ-200 Standard. When I heard the interview on the radio, I was appalled to hear that my big Gibson sounded like a cigar box compared to the rich, warm sounding tiny Martin. I ordered a Martin MC-28 and sold the Gibson. But the obsession never really went away. I discovered part of the reason when Jan and I rented a VHS tape (remember “VHS”?) on the Everly Brothers from a video store (remember “video stores”?) . This was the first image I saw:Everly-Brothers-bw_thumb1
The Lefty Frizzell SJ-200 shows signs of extensive use but is still a fine playing and sounding instrument; considering the guitar’s gibson j 200 cutaway history it is surprisingly well preserved. There is considerable pick wear to the top, a very well repaired crack to the back and a grain split on the top next to the fingerboard on the treble side. The action has been adjusted over the years; an old popsicle stick or tongue depressor is currently fitted under the Bigsby saddle (this is visible in 1960’s photos) and the guitar plays quite comfortably. One piece of pearl is missing from the moustache bridge.

The new model was just under 17″ wide – a full inch wider than Martin’s dreadnoughts and Gibson’s own Jumbos. To make it look even bigger, Gibson reverted to the circular lower bout of the original small-bodied flat-tops. The first of these was made for singing cowboy movie star Ray Whitley. The body size was the same as Gibson’s L-5 archtop, and the neck featured the L-5’s pearl block inlays (custom-engraved) along with the L-5’s flowerpot peghead inlay, so the first examples of this new guitar were labeled “L-5 Spec.”

When the SG or "Solid Guitar" was introduced in 1961 as a replacement for the Les Paul, it was called the "fretless wonder" for its low frets and fast action. The twin horn cutaway double neck guitar
design was like nothing on the market and its light but balanced weight made it the perfect guitar for stage and studio work. “There was nothing better than when Jimmy Page got out the double neck for Stairway to Heaven”, he continued. “I mean, it was a truly mind-blowing experience.  The only moments I remember more than the first time I saw Jimmy play are my wedding, and the birth of my children.”

A couple of years ago I was asked to build a custom double neck guitar

Here we have the Dave Mustaine signature VMNT 6 / 12 double neck guitar folks. It has just surfaced and is in very limited supply as only 75 will be produced worldwide. This guitar has mahogany body and necks, ebony fretboards with Dave Mustaine Rickenbacker 4080 1981 Cheap Double Neck Guitar
live wire pickups. The 12 string side has 6 tuners on the head and 6 Grover tuners on the body for balance and easy tuning. At one point or another every guitarist has secretly fantasized about having allege propped on a monitor double neck guitar
as he or she busts out a killer solo on a double-necked guitar. Admittedly in practice these two-headed monsters can be a pain to lug around but they also afford you the opportunity to play two separate guitars during one song, which can be a valuable tool. Additionally it's pretty much scientifically impossible not to look cool while rocking one of these; just don't get all Cheap Trick and start playing a seven-neck guitar. Only Rick Nielsen can pull that off.

I had a history teacher back in high school that was kind of a crazy cross between Fred Rogers and Gandhi– Gene Beringer.  Gene’s probably the most mild-mannered cat I have ever double neck guitar
come across.  I mean nothing– not even smart-ass 15 year olds who constantly screwed around in class (yep, yours truly), could get this guy riled up. Necessity being the mother of invention. I designed the Dickson DN-2 in 2006 and handcrafted the instrument with Hideko in Tokyo that same year.
