Ken Lawrence Instruments is a manufacturer of custom guitars and custom bass guitars founded by Ken Lawrence Ken Lawrence Custom Explorer in 1986. Besides building instruments Lawrence has also done work as a bassist both live and in recording sessions. Lawrence began building instruments in 1981 at Moonstone Guitars and five years later he set up his own company.

Cut all the bodies and necks then start taking orders. Most everything gets presold before this point and custom inlay / finishes agreed upon. Every once in a while, he will have someone change their mind or back out and have something come available during the build process that you can jump on. He really doesn't have to advertise and sell - his work sells itself. It's about a 3 year process, unless you get in on a current build cycle and something comes available.
